Interim Tranmere boss Andy Crosby said his players would not be getting carried away after his side made it three home wins on the bounce with a 4-0 thrashing of Chesterfield at Prenton Park.
Goals from Cameron Norman, Regan Hendry, Josh Davison and Sam Finley did the damage as Rovers put some daylight between themselves and the League Two relegation places.
Tranmere have now lost just once in eight games and Crosby said: “For us to score four goals at home and keep a clean sheet was really pleasing.
“The first half they were by far the dominant team and we were lucky to come in level at half-time.
“We regrouped at half-time and changed a few things tactically and went a bit more direct than we have been.
“The turnaround in the second half was credit to everyone on the pitch as we’ve been a really good team today with lots of good individuals who have been on a great run.
“We have to keep going as there are five games left and we haven’t achieved anything yet. We have to keep our foot on the gas and enjoy the wins when they come before preparing for the next game.
“We have to focus on ourselves and we’re picking up points consistently and we’ve picked up a good number of points now.
“But there are still five games left and there’s no way anyone in our group will be getting carried away.”
Chesterfield boss Paul Cook saw his side’s run of six games without defeat come to an end.
He said: “That’s probably as bad a second half as I’ve seen since I came back to the club.
“I’m devastated and I feel sick for our supporters as Tranmere ran all over us, had more desire and clearly looked like the game meant a lot more to them than it did to us.
“I thought we did alright in the first half, we were the better team and comfortable in possession, but then we gave them absolute gifts.
“Deepest apologies to our fans who travelled today as that was an absolutely disgusting performance and our season was summed up in that second half, which offered so much, but ended with so little.
“We’ve got to lick our wounds and take our medicine and come back fighting and show people we’ve still got a bit of fight in us and try and win games.
“We’ve been on a great run and it’s hard to criticise our players and I won’t because all the lads have done great for us but it’s a tough one to take.”
