Karl Robinson says Salford now showing their best after ‘horrendous’ injury run
{by} PA

Karl Robinson believes his Salford side are now showing what they can do after returning to full strength, with Saturday’s win at Bromley boosting their bid for a play-off place.

Salford edged out Bromley 3-2 to make it back-to-back victories – following a six-match winless run – to leave them six points adrift of the top seven with eight games remaining.

Robinson said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the win and on the back of the Grimsby win it is a tremendous return.

“I’ve always said that when my best side is available we are a match for any side in this division.

“We’ve had a horrendous run of injuries but this is now my side back to full fitness and the last two performances show what they can do.”

An early own goal from Ossama Ashley had given Bromley the lead at Hayes Lane but a Cole Stockton brace either side of Kelly Nmai’s goal saw Salford 3-1 up before Michael Cheek’s late volley set up a grandstand finish.

Robinson added: “Bromley were the better team for 20 mins and they had us trapped in their high press but once we got to grips with it I thought we were excellent.

“We showed our quality at the right stages and I thought all things considered it was a really good performance”.

Bromley pushed hard for a late equaliser after Cheek’s 18th goal of the season had made it 3-2 with 16 minutes left, but the Ammies held on for all three points.

Defeat leaves Bromley in 13th spot, four points behind Salford, and Ravens manager Andy Woodman cut a frustrated figure at full-time.

He said: “It was a case of us making our own errors, we were the best team on the pitch but that’s irrelevant if you give away goals like the ones we did.

“We gifted Salford two if not all three goals and yes they took them but we cant be giving up the ball so freely.”

He added: “We shouldn’t be in a situation where we are chasing a game at home and giving teams three goals and that’s my big frustration with how we went about it today.

“I thought on the whole the team actually carried out what I wanted but every time they went away from it Salford punished us and ultimately that’s the level we are currently at.”
