Fleetwood boss Pete Wild urged his side to “back up results” after they came from behind to claim an impressive 4-2 win against MK Dons.
The home side opened the scoring through Danilo Orsi, but the game changed when Matty Virtue and James Bolton scored either side of half-time to put Fleetwood in front.
Louis Marsh and Owen Devonport scored to give the visitors a commanding lead, with Scott Hogan scoring a late consolation for the hosts.
Wild said: “Success is obviously the biggest part of football, but the close second is winning.
“The best part of football week-in, week-out is winning football matches. We talked about it in the hotel this morning, that winning away from home at 5pm, there aren’t too many better feelings. To do it today in that manner was fantastic.
“The message at half-time was that we understood what they were going to do, we knew we’d have to defend well but that when we got chances, we’d have to implement our style of play on them and have sustained periods of possession.
“I thought we did that so well after going behind and I think from 20 minutes onwards, we played so well.
“My challenge to the players now is that they’ve got to back up results, keep pushing and have that winning feeling again. They loved it, we loved it and we want more of that.”
MK Dons’ interim head coach Ben Gladwin felt his side reacted poorly to conceding an equaliser late in the first half.
“I think it’s unfortunately the reality of where the group are currently at,” he said. “The first 18 minutes were exactly how we intended with a lot of stuff we had rehearsed and spoken about.
“The intensity and intent to hurt the opposition were there and then in the last 15 minutes of the first half I could feel it coming.
“People concede goals up and down the country at bad times and we need to find a way to give the players a feeling that it’s part of the game and we can overcome that. At the minute, we’re not doing that.
“The amount of scar tissue that has built up over the year means, just currently, where the group is at is not great.
“But we, me, whoever comes in, whatever happens, you can’t just wait for pre-season. Something needs to happen right now. We have a big game on Wednesday to prepare for now and we have to find a way to prepare properly for that.”
