Blackpool boss Steve Bruce was delighted to see his side come out on top in a local derby against Bolton at Bloomfield Road.
In-form strike partnership Ashley Fletcher and Niall Ennis struck to help the Seasiders to a 2-1 win that moved their side to within five points of the top six.
Bruce said: “It was a really hard fought and really competitive game and we’ve done very well to win it.
“They are a strong side and they were always going to have a lot of the ball but we did well to limit them. It is great to send our supporters home happy too after winning a local derby in a game that has always produced a lot over the years.”
Bruce was keen to praise his strikers who he feels are playing very well at the moment.
Bruce: “They are both playing exceptionally well. They are in great form and they are winning us games at the moment.
“Ashley especially is playing really well. He had lost his way a little bit but he’s got his confidence back and you can see that with the way he’s carrying himself about the pitch.He’s got that bit of a swagger and looks really easy on the eye.
“In terms of Niall (Ennis) he has been excellent from the second he came in through the door. That is his sixth goal in 10 or 11 matches for us which is a remarkable return.”
Bolton head coach Steven Schumacher was left disappointed after his side fell to a third straight defeat in the league.
Despite dominating large parts of the game and enjoying the lion’s share of the possession, Wanderers left Bloomfield Road empty handed, something that Schumacher found immensely frustrating.
Schumacher: “The game is certainly one that has gotten away from us. It just seems at the minute like we are finding ways to come out on the wrong side of results.”
The former Stoke and Plymouth boss was keen to praise his players’ efforts even though they were on the receiving end of another loss.
Schumacher: “I was pleased though with a lot of things that I saw. There was nothing really wrong with the performance. We’ve asked our lads to stand up in what is a derby game and they more than did that.
“We’ve just let in two poor goals and we simply haven’t been ruthless enough inside their box. We kept getting balls into the right areas and when did eventually get one in the box from Aaron Morley we’ve created a goal.’’
Schumacher was keen to press that he is not going to get too downbeat after the run of losses.
Schumacher: “We said to the players in a presentation that we had nine games left and we are going to lose one, no team in and around that mix is going to win all of them so it is about dusting ourselves off and moving onto the next one which we’ve got to do now.
“Our focus now turns to Wigan on Tuesday night.”
