Crawley manager Scott Lindsey wanted his players to take the plaudits after they ran out emphatic 4-0 winners at Rotherham.
Kamari Doyle was the star man with a goal in each half while Gavan Holohan and Panutche Camara also scored to help Crawley claim a huge victory in their late bid to stave off relegation.
They are now six points from safety but back-to-back wins and the nature of this demolition will act as a huge confidence boost.
Lindsey said: “It could not have gone any better than it has.
“But we know football has a nasty habit of kicking you in the teeth. I will make sure we stay grounded and measured and ready to go again.
“I saw a performance last week that gave me encouragement and training all week. I fully expected to win but 4-0 is brilliant and it could have been more.
“The players have been outstanding since I came in. They have been deserved winners in both games.
“I can’t take the credit for that. The players are the ones out there doing it. I give them the guidance and the information but they have gone out and done it perfectly in two games.
“The catalyst for the win came from the training ground.
“We got some real detail into them. I analysed Rotherham last Sunday and we have worked to a plan from Monday and got the fruits from that.
“The players took on the information really well and executed it perfectly. I am really pleased.”
Rotherham fans left in their droves before the final whistle and chanted for the dismissal of manager Steve Evans.
He said: “The fans have watched an abject performance.
“The fans don’t want to hear apologies – they want the performance to be right.
“I will always protect my players. I think a lot of those players have not got credit in the bank at this football club. Maybe my credit will run out, I don’t know.
“I thought we defended poorly. Our players have played with a really heavy weight on their shoulders.
“The facts are they have not played in a Rotherham United fashion for much of the season.
“In the games that they have, we have won games comfortably.
“We won’t make excuses. I offer my apologies. The performance was limp and way off the minimum standards.”
