Manchester United and Juventus are reportedly among the clubs eyeing a summer move for breakout Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
- Ederson attracting interest from Europe's top clubs
- Amorim wants to bring him to Old Trafford
- Juve also making efforts to sign the Brazilian
WHAT HAPPENED?
According to a report from Calciomercato, United are plotting a sensational £50 million (€60m) bid for Ederson, amid interest from fellow Serie A heavyweights Juve. Ederson has been one of the best players in the Serie A in recent years and has been on the radar of several top European clubs.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Atalanta have maintained that their intention is to extend Ederson’s contract, which runs until 2027, with ongoing talks between the club and his agent. However, the Brazilian midfielder seems intrigued by the growing interest from other top clubs, particularly in the Premier League.
United boss Ruben Amorim in particular seems impressed by the player's all-round game and top-drawer displays against some big sides in the Champions League as well as the Serie A's best teams. The Portuguese manager believes that the 25-year-old could bolster his midfield, as he plans a major summer overhaul ahead of his first pre-season with the Red Devils.
DID YOU KNOW?
United will have to lock horns in a potential transfer battle with Juventus, who are also just as eager to sign Ederson. The Bianconeri's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is reportedly making efforts to secure a move for the Atalanta man, even meeting with the player's representatives in January.
WHAT NEXT FOR EDERSON?
Having played a starring role in Juventus' 4-0 demolition at the Allianz Stadium last weekend, Ederson will be hoping to deliver the goods for Gian Piero Gasperini's side when they welcome league leaders Inter on Sunday, March 16.
