Chile no pudo imponerse ante Paraguay e igualaron sin goles por la fecha 5 del hexagonal final del Sudamericano Sub 17. El mencionado duelo se desarrolló en el estadio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.
El partido no tuvo mayor cantidad de llegadas; es más, durante los 90 minutos fue un encuentro muy trabado, lo cual no colaboró con la fluidez del juego.
Con este resultado, Chile sumó 10 unidades y con ello se apoderó del segundo lugar del torneo. Argentina debería caer por más de cinco goles ante Ecuador, para que la 'Roja' se consagre.
Por su parte, Paraguay llegó a los 6 puntos y aseguró su cupo en el Mundial Sub 17 que se desarrollará el presente año en tierras brasileñas..
Tras vencer (4-2) a Uruguay y asegurar su presencia en la máxima competición de la división juvenil que albergará Brasil, Chile necesita un triunfo frente a los guaraníes y esperar que Argentina no le gane a Ecuador para consagrarse en el Sudamericano.
No obstante, Paraguay pretende quedarse con los puntos en juego para lograr su clasificación al Mundial Sub 17 de noviembre.
Chile, dirigido por Hernán Caputto, se ubica segundo en la tabla del Sudamericano con nueve unidades, a un punto de Argentina; seguido por Paraguay (5), Uruguay (4), Perú (2) y Ecuador (2).
Una goleada (3-0) ante Argentina dejó a Paraguay fuera de la pelea por el trofeo en la fecha previa, pero la representación guaraní liderada por Gustavo Morínigo mantiene intactas sus posibilidades de progreso rumbo a la competición de Brasil.
“Siempre salimos a buscar los tres puntos y ante Chile vamos a hacer lo mismo", destacó el estratega de la Albirroja, que requiere una victoria o un empate frente a Chile para alcanzar un boleto para el Mundial, sin depender de otros resultados.
“Iremos al último partido con mucho optimismo. Argentina nos supera por un punto, por lo que tienen la primera opción. En el Sudamericano pasado nos tocó vivir un escenario similar y sabemos lo difícil que es. Tenemos la opción y la vamos a buscar”, advirtió Hernán Caputto en la antesala del compromiso.
