Ross County manager Don Cowie believes their 1-0 win over Kilmarnock was their best three points of the season.
The Staggies were not at their best, but held on under plenty of pressure after Kieran Phillips’ first-half goal to get the better of their visitors in Dingwall.
It still could have been better for County, as they saw a second goal in the final 10 minutes disallowed after a VAR review for a foul in the build-up.
Cowie, though, was delighted with the outcome, even if he does feel his side could have performed better.
“It’s a big three points,” Cowie said.
“That’s three wins in our last four games, and it’s probably our best three points of the season because we weren’t at our best.
“We were disappointed on Wednesday with the way we performed off the back of two really good games.
“There was a lot of frustration from our fans, and rightly so, so it was important to react in a positive manner.
“To get three points today puts us on the same total we had for the whole of last season, and now we have nine games to really add to that.”
Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes, on the other hand, was left frustrated with the outcome in Dingwall.
His side have dropped to third bottom in the table after three losses in a week, and are now just three points clear of Dundee in the relegation play-off spot.
At the same time, they are only six points off the top six, but with time running out to get themselves up the table McInnes is not looking at breaking into the top half any time soon.
“It would be foolish for me to sit here and go on about the top six, but there is still a chance we can rein it in,” he said.
“Every team will feel a sense of that, and we are probably the last team in the league that will feel like we can get there.
“There is still that opportunity, and while that is there we will keep working towards it, but now we have to just focus on the team above us.
“No doubt, it has been a tough week for us, but that was always going to be the case with the fixtures we had.
“Performance-wise, we have been a bit unlucky not to get anything. Nobody wants to hear that we’ve been unlucky though, so it’s important that my players knuckle down and stick together, and stay positive.”
