Ipswich sign Somto Boniface from Chelsea

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of defender Somto Boniface from Chelsea, the club confirmed on the deadline day.

The official statement from the club read: "Town have completed the signing of young defender Somto Boniface from Chelsea. The left-back came through the youth system at Stamford Bridge and featured twice for Chelsea’s U21s in the EFL Trophy earlier this season. Somto, 18, has also represented England at various age-group levels prior to joining Town, where he will continue his development. He could make his first appearance in an Ipswich shirt when John McGreal’s U21s face Bristol City at Playford Road next week."
