Napoli confirm Alejandro Garnacho interest but director insists Serie A side won't be held to ransom on asking price by Man Utd
{by} Goal.com

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has confirmed the club's interest in Alejandro Garnacho, but insists they will not be held to ransom.

  • United star wanted by Serie A club
  • Chelsea also reportedly interested
  • Karim Adeyemi wanted too

WHAT HAPPENED?

Napoli have been linked with a move to sign Garnacho throughout January, with United reportedly demanding around £50 million ($62m) for the Argentine winger. Chelsea are also reportedly interested, but the Italian club maintain they will not be forced to overpay for the winger.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Garnacho has been limited to just 11 Premier League starts this season and United are reportedly minded to move him on as they attempt to stay within the margins of Profit and Sustainability Rules. Napoli's director, Manna, though, maintains they will not pay through the nose, despite selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain for €70m (£59m/$72m).

WHAT MANNA SAID

Manna told Gianluca Di Marzio: "Karim Adeyemi and Alejandro Garnacho are two names that interest us, that we like. They are not the only ones, we will try to evaluate the opportunities. We will certainly not pay off-market prices. Kvara must be replaced, a transfer for the player's will. We are not holding back. We also have other ideas, let's see what happens in the next few days."

WHAT NEXT?

United play Fulham on Sunday as they attempt to right the ship. They remain marooned in the bottom half of the Premier League.
