Manchester United will reportedly negotiate with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to find a replacement for Marcus Rashford.
Man Utd could sign their replacement for Marcus Rashford from Jurgen Klopp's club
Manchester United may need to get the approval of Jurgen Klopp to sign their replacement for Marcus Rashford after reportedly lining up a move for a Red Bull Salzburg forward.
Klopp, who spent nearly nine years in charge of Liverpool before leaving in June 2024, began his role as Red Bull's head of global soccer in September.
The German oversees the Austrian energy drink manufacturer's football portfolio across the world, which stretches from RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga to Bragantino in Brazil.
That includes looking after affairs in Salzburg, with the Austrian side boasting one of the best scouting systems in Europe after unearthing gems such as Erling Haaland and Naby Keita in the past.
And it seems the 56-year-old could have some say in United's second January transfer after the Red Devils registered their interest in signing Nene Dorgeles.
The Malian winger has scored 11 goals in 57 appearances for Salzburg since making his debut in 2019, including four in 14 games this term.
And the 22-year-old has been attracting interest from several European clubs, not least United, who are looking to strengthen on a tight budget in January.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United have asked Salzburg for the conditions on a possible deal for Dorgeles, including the transfer fee and his salary.
The left winger's arrival would surely spell the end of Rashford's time at Old Trafford, as the United outcast continues to weigh up a move away this month.
Rashford, 27, has been frozen out ever since Ruben Amorim took charge of United at Carrington and was initially omitted from the Portuguese's 20-man matchday squads.
He has since returned to the substitutes bench, but the absence of the England international on the pitch suggests he could go.
Rashford has been tipped to leave after claiming he needed a "new challenge" in December, sparking rumours of a move away from his boyhood club.
West Ham, Tottenham and Arsenal have all been credited with interest in Rashford, who has over 350 appearances in a United shirt.
But the Premier League trio won't be alone if Rashford’s representatives succeed in convincing United to let him leave, with talks with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also taking place over his possible transfer this month.
A loan move looks to be the most likely outcome, as Rashford's wage demands and transfer fee would normally scupper any January move. AC Milan are thought to be leading the chase.
However, when he was drawn on Rashford leaving Old Trafford, Amorim admitted he "doesn't know" if he would be staying or going.
