Manchester United are monitoring Belgium Under-21s goalkeeper Senne Lammens as Ruben Amorim assesses his options between the sticks.
- Red Devils scouting highly-rated goalkeeper
- Amorim assessing his options in every department
- Could favour a different style of stopper to Onana
WHAT HAPPENED?
Manchester United are scouting Belgium Under-21s goalkeeper Senne Lammens as a potential replacement for Andre Onana. Reports from The Telegraph suggest signing a new stopper is not a priority for Ruben Amorim in January but those who have watched the Royal Antwerp keeper have been impressed with his performances. United are not the only club interested in Lammens, with other European giants also monitoring the 22-year-old's situation.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is spending a lot of time assessing his best options in every position, including in the goalkeeper department. Onana was brought to suit Erik ten Hag's system but under the new head coach, there may be a change in approach when it comes to playing out from the back. He was also at fault for a Wolves goal scored directly from a corner on Boxing Day, not his first howler in a United shirt.
DID YOU KNOW?
Lammens has conceded just 21 goals in 20 Belgian Pro League appearances this term. The young prospect has also kept five clean sheets as Antwerp sit fourth in the table.
WHAT NEXT FOR LAMMENS?
There is no guarantee that United move for Lammens in January, particularly with reports suggesting there are limited funds for Amorim to play with this winter. Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and Championship leaders Leeds are also monitoring the goalkeeper.
