Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has been in contact for a while now with Mohamed Salah's agent Ramy Abbas regarding the future of the Egyptian winger, sources have told ESPN.
Salah, 32, is out of contract at Liverpool this summer and has recently said he has yet to receive a formal contract offer from the club, adding that he is "more out than in."
Salah has enjoyed an impressive individual campaign, having scored 13 goals in all competitions this term. Liverpool overawed arch-rivals Manchester City in a 2-0 win on Sunday with Salah scoring the second goal with a 78th-minute penalty. The win gave Liverpool a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
After the win, Salah spoke again about the uncertainty of his future for the second time in eight days.
"Honestly it's in my head," he told Sky Sports. "Until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen."
Sources told ESPN Salah's priority is to stay at Liverpool, where he arrived from Roma in 2017. However, the lack of a new deal on the table so far, means his camp has been contacted by other clubs.
PSG have been a long time admirer of Salah and tried to recruit him a couple of times before in the past with no success. The Parisians have embarked on a new era under Luis Enrique with younger players with huge potential but lack experience.
They have so far failed to improve their wing options after having lost out on Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23), Manchester United's Jadon Sancho (24) and Athletic Club's Nico Williams (22) recently.
Salah, however, would tick those two boxes. The Egypt star and his family like the city of Paris too, a source told ESPN, and the project at the Parc des Princes could appeal to him.
Financially, PSG could easily pay Salah's current wages (around £400,000 a week) as well as offering him a substantial signing on fee.
Salah signed his last Liverpool contract, which made him the club's highest earner, in June 2022. As things stand, he will be free to speak to clubs outside of England about a free transfer next summer when the winter window opens on Jan. 1.
The source told ESPN that PSG know there is a long way to go still but if Liverpool don't offer Salah a new deal, they will be a strong contender.
Salah is one of three Liverpool players whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with club captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold also out of contract next summer.
