WHAT HAPPENED?
Militao will miss the rest of the season for Real Madrid after rupturing his ACL in the 4-0 win against Osasuna on Saturday. The Brazilian centre-back was stretchered off and it was confirmed he will miss the next nine months with his knee injury. The news has sparked rumours that Sergio Ramos could return to the Spanish capital, with the veteran defender in search of a new club after leaving Sevilla in the summer.

Former Madrid man Guti is all for the return of the 38-year-old. He said: "Look at Ancelotti's worried face. Militao is a very important player who had just recovered from last year's injury, who was getting back to his best and who is leaving Madrid's defence in a tight spot. Madrid's injury concerns continue to mount and they already have a lot of ground to make up in both La Liga and the Champions League. If they are to repeat their success of winning both competitions in 2023-24, they are going to need some immediate reinforcements at the back.

After the international break, it is full steam ahead for Madrid. They will travel to Leganes in an effort to try and close the current six-point gap to leaders Barcelona before they head to Liverpool in the Champions League.
