Lincoln manager Michael Skubala sang the praises of Jack Moylan who earned the high-flying Imps a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.
The Irish midfielder had only been on the pitch five minutes when he cancelled out Shaq Forde’s first-half opener on 64 minutes with a low, angled shot beyond goalkeeper Josh Griffiths.
“Every time Jack comes on the pitch he affects the game,” Skubala said. “Jack’s frustrated that he’s not starting but how better to answer than with a cracking goal.
“He’s taken his goal well. He was a threat, he’s brave and I like his personality when he’s on the pitch.
“Jack’s great in that attacking pocket. There was a little duck inside and what a great finish to get us a point on the road.
“It’s important that when the substitutes get a chance that they show what they can do and that’s what Jack did.”
The point consolidated Lincoln’s place in the League One play-off zone and Skubala was happy with the manner of their comeback.
“We started off too slowly and then we looked like a team that was going to win it,” Skubala said.
“We weren’t at our best, there were too many loose touches and the execution wasn’t there.
“We’re still growing and trying to be better but we’ve got to start games better and work our way in better rather than going one behind.”
Rovers manager Matt Taylor hailed ex-Watford winger Forde, who put the Gas in command on 35 minutes in classy style.
He cleverly won possession before curling a low 20-yard shot that beat goalkeeper George Wickens’ dive.
“There were two moments of quality on the pitch, one from Shaq and one for their goal,” Taylor said.
“There was hardly any time or space on the pitch but if you’d want anyone to have the ball it would be Shaq.
“It was a great finish and he was our most threatening player, certainly in one-versus-one situations.
“Shaq’s a young player still finding his way in the game and the last couple of games he’s shown his inexperience and brilliance and lots in-between
“This will be a confidence booster for him but I was really happy with the tackle to win the ball for the goal and once we get Shaq doing that on a consistent basis he’ll be a serious player.”
