Liverpool will face competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.
- Marmoush drawing interest from Europe's elite
- Continuing impressive form for Frankfurt
- Bayern set to enter race for Egyptian forward
WHAT HAPPENED?
Marmoush is making a name for himself in the Bundesliga and Germany's biggest club are circling following his impressive form. According to Sky Germany, Bayern are interested in the 25-year-old. They will likely have to fight Liverpool for his signature - which is expected to cost around £50 million ($65m) - as they look to strengthen under Arne Slot, eyeing Marmoush as a possible Mohamed Salah successor.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Max Eberl are reported to be particularly interested in Marmoush, and the news may raise concern for star striker Harry Kane. The 31-year-old already has 11 goals this term and is the Bundesliga's top scorer, but his age means the Bavarian club may be keeping one eye on the future as they look to regain their dominance in Germany. Marmoush has been directly involved in as many goals as Kane in the Bundesliga so far this term.
DID YOU KNOW?
Marmoush has already bagged 10 goals and six assists in the Bundesliga this term. Frankfurt sit third in the league and are six points off Bayern after nine games. The 25-year-old is already just seven goals off his tally from the 2023-24 campaign.
WHAT NEXT FOR MARMOUSH?
Frankfurt's prolific striker still has three years left on his contract, but if he continues to thrive in the final third he will likely get a big move sooner rather than later. For now, he will be preparing for the Europa League match against Slavia Prague on Thursday.
