The Red Devils are keen to refresh left-back options with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia experiencing continual injury troubles.
Canada international Davies is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season and there have been no concrete talks regarding a new deal. However, despite Davies' current position, United do not believe their chances to be high of landing the defender.
Davies has shown glimpses of recapturing his form at the Bavarian club, with the German giants not opposed to the possibility of extending his contract. Alongside this, Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move for Davies, as Los Blancos look to take advantage of the potential opportunity to secure Davies on a free transfer.
