Al-Ahli chief confirms club tried to sign Vinicius Jr

Al-Ahli chief Khaled Al-Issa has confirmed the Saudi Pro League club tried to sign Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr this summer.

Speaking to 'Koora Rotana', Al-Issa said: “The competent technical committee, which includes the technical director, decided to leave Maximin because it was easier in terms of the sale process, and the amount of the deal could be borne by any other club.

"There was a desire to bring in a very big winger, Vinicius, from Real Madrid, but during the negotiations something unexpected happened, which was the Saudi players leaving to go professional in accordance with the scholarship program, and the striker Firas Al-Braikan was scheduled to leave.

"Our priority shifted from the winger to the spearhead based on the departure of Al-Braikan, and we entered into negotiations with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, and it ended with Toney's arrival."

“Together with the players and everyone at the club, we are looking forward to the coming years, with our supporters, who have emotionally transformed the club and the team.

“Our supporters have transformed individuals and we are different now. You can tell that we are different and for me, that is down to them. We look forward to continuing the journey together."

Balotelli clears the air on his future

Former Italy international Mario Balotelli has revealed that he is currently weighing several offers from clubs as he seeks his next move in professional football. The 34-year-old striker has been without a club since leaving Turkish side Adana Demispor in the summer, where he made a notable impact, scoring seven goals in 16 league appearances during the previous season.

Recently linked with a potential move to Brazilian club Corinthians, Balotelli took to Instagram to address the ongoing rumours and speculation surrounding his future.

"I have noticed that in recent times there have been many invented stories about me," Balotelli posted on Instagram. "The only thing I do is work hard, train and be ready for wherever I go and play. Very soon I will speak and clarify things.

"The important thing for me it's training and staying calm. I've received several proposals and I'm looking for the best project for me. Newspapers, teams, people keep inventing things ... Time and time again."

Sterling exit is a major factor behind rift between Boehly and Eghbali

The departure of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea to Arsenal on transfer deadline day has reportedly intensified a growing rift between the club’s co-owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, according to HITC.

However, Eghbali played a crucial role in pushing Sterling out of the club, despite Boehly’s resistance. The two owners’ disagreement over Sterling’s future only worsened their already tense relationship, with sources familiar with the situation describing the fallout as "untenable."
