MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly ready to battle Bayern Munich for Jonathan Tah.

The Red Devils completed their first summer signing by bringing in Joshua Zirkzee.

The Netherlands forward, 23, completed a £36.5million move to Old Trafford from Bologna on Sunday.

Now boss Erik ten Hag hopes that Zirkzee's arrival is just the start of several more big additions.

The Dutchman is desperate to strengthen his defence and is known to be desperate to get Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, the German giants are closing in on snapping up 28-year-old Tah from Bayer Leverkusen.

The defender was a key player for his country at Euro 2024 and his displays on the big stage have impressed everyone.

However, now Sky Reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that United have entered the chase to sign him as they are yet to agree terms with Bayern for De Ligt.

He posted on X: “Been told that Manchester United have inquired about Jonathan #Tah in the last few days!

“ManUtd aware of the fact, that there’s no agreement between Bayern and Leverkusen.

“And: There’s still no final agreement between ManUtd & Bayern about a transfer of Matthijs de Ligt.”

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on an outgoing at Old Trafford.

He told Caught Offside: “Willy Kambwala is leaving Manchester United on a permanent transfer to Villarreal.

“The young defender had one year left on his contract and wasn’t negotiating a new deal, he wanted to play and now he’s going to play in Spain.

“Villarreal are set to pay €10m to Manchester United, and then give a five-year contract to the player, with a sell-on clause and also a buy-back clause for Man United.”

Meanwhile, fans have reacted with delight at discovering how much new boy Zirkzee will be paid.

The star inked a five-year contract to become the first signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era at the Theatre of Dreams.

And a fresh report has now claimed that he will receive a weekly salary of £56,000.

And after years of spending fortunes on both player transfer fees and wages, some supporters were pleasantly surprised to see the relatively small amount.

Zirkzee caught Ten Hag’s eye with 12 goals in 37 appearances last season.

And that impressive final season in Serie A also earned him a spot in the Netherlands' Euro 2024 squad.

He made his debut for them in their quarter-final victory over Turkey before Zirkzee then picked up his second cap in the Dutch's last-gasp semi-final defeat to England.
