Kylian Mbappe is on the market as a free agent after confirming that he will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires this summer. Real Madrid are the overwhelming favourites to land the World Cup winner but Manchester United, as one of the biggest clubs in the world, should be aiming to target players of such calibre. However, the French forward comes with some jaw-dropping wage demands and would certainly require significant outgoings to match his contract waiting in Spain. Here, Express Sport takes a look at how Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co can afford to make an offer to Mbappe by selling just four players.

Spanish outlet AS claim that Mbappe would pocket £21million-a-year if he joins the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in Madrid, equating to a £104m contract across four years.

After his Champions League heroics, Jadon Sancho has firmly put himself in the shop window on loan at Borussia Dortmund from United. The European finalists have already confirmed their interest in keeping the Englishman beyond this season and will sit down with the Red Devils to discuss that possibility.

There is no permanent clause in Sancho’s loan agreement, as United are reportedly seeking a fee in excess of £30m to part ways with the 24-year-old, which could rise even further should he impress in the Champions League final.

Mason Greenwood

After a promising spell in La Liga with Getafe, where Mason Greenwood has spent the season on loan, United are reportedly willing to cut ties with the one-cap England international but similarly want a fee between £30-40m.

Getafe are interested in keeping Greenwood beyond the current campaign but lack the financial muscle to sign him permanently. Two Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the 22-year-old, as another sizable fee would create space for United to move for Mbappe.

Casemiro

After Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher insisted that Casemiro had just a few games left at the top level before clubs Saudi Arabia or MLS would come calling, the Brazilian midfielder was linked with a ‘record-breaking’ sale to the Middle East.

United could fetch as much as £34m from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, half of what they paid for the 32-year-old two years ago, but declining performances may tempt new hierarchy INEOS into a big sale and redistribute that fee on Mbappe as a statement signing.

Antony

If Mbappe were to make a sensational switch to England with United, he would command a spot in the front three and leave Antony even further down the pecking order, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho unlikely to depart.

Antony’s two years at Old Trafford have not gone as planned under Erik ten Hag and especially if the Dutchman is sacked at the end of the season, Antony could follow him out of the door, albeit with a considerable discount on the £85m paid to Ajax in 2022.

If United were to receive in the region of £30m for each of Sancho, Greenwood, Casemiro and Antony they would be able to match Madrid’s offer to Mbappe, with some spare change left over for a hefty signing bonus.
