RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko's agent has sparked rumours that his client could be heading to Arsenal in a blockbuster summer transfer after recently being spotted at the Emirates. Sesko is one of the world's most highly sought-after prospects and the Gunners may be a step ahead of their rivals in pursuit of the £43million-rated forward.
Benjamin Sesko has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal.
Sesko, 20, has enjoyed a stellar debut season in Germany with Leipzig, scoring 15 goals, including in each of his last four appearances. His performances have prompted interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal mentioned alongside the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
He has a reported £43m release clause in his contract and would be viewed as a bargain option compared to some of Arsenal's other targets such as Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, as clubs continue to be mindful of the league's profit and sustainability rules that prohibited any additions in January.
And Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has added fuel to the fire that his client may end up at Arsenal, having been spotted at the Emirates for the recent 5-0 drubbing of Chelsea.
Basanovic, whose agency Pro Transfer represents Sesko, was in members-only lounge The VW, dropping a major hint that the young forward may line up under Mikel Arteta next season.
Kai Havertz has recently quelled the previous need for a new striker, netting in recent derby wins over Chelsea and Tottenham while leading the line, but Sesko may be viewed as someone who can work alongside Havertz as Arteta continues to revamp the squad.
Standing at 6'4” Sesko's large frame and goalscoring record has lent comparisons to Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland, particularly after joining RB Leipzig with a relatively modest release clause, similar to the Norwegian's arrival at Borussia Dortmund.
After Arsenal's Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, Arteta lamented the lack of a goalscoring number nine within his ranks, perhaps hinting at a potential move for a striker such as Sesko.
"The reality is we don't have a striker who is going to score 35, 40 goals – and we have to live with that,” Arteta said.
Arsenal’s hopes of landing one of their top striker targets this summer have taken a significant blow, with BBC journalist Sami Mokbel stating that the Gunners have “less than a 2% chance” of completing the deal during this transfer window.Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are actively searching for a new centre-forward to add a clinical edge to the squad ahead of t...
