WHAT HAPPENED?
Gallagher is facing an uncertain future at Chelsea as he is out of contract in 2025 and he is yet to extend his current deal. There has been speculation that the Blues could look to cash in on Gallagher in the summer transfer window in a bid to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play rules. As an academy graduate, Gallagher could raise a significant profit if he is moved on in the summer.

Newcastle have emerged as a potential suitor for Gallagher as the Magpies sent a scout to watch the England international in action during Chelsea's recent 4-3 win over Manchester United, according to The Chronicle. Eddie Howe's side are currently finalising their transfer plans and could make a move for Gallagher who is expected to cost around £40 million (€46m/$49m).

Gallagher spoke about his commitment to the club in November in an interview with The Telegraph and made it clear he was hopeful of staying put: "I’m sure that [my contract] will get sorted out, everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them."
