All that glistens isn't gold in football - unless you're Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, in which case there's a good chance of a few karats being involved

The Catalan was his usual exuberant self on the touchline for Tuesday's quarter-final clash at the Santiago Bernabeu. And there's a good chance anyone keeping an eye on Guardiola in the Spanish capital may have found themselves temporarily blinded.
That's after the two-time treble-winner was seen flexing a fancy timepiece as his team drew 3-3 with Carlo Ancelotti's side in the first leg. And watch aficionado's were quick to spot this particular watch is one that costs no less than £1.1million.
The Richard Mille Calibre RM27-01 was created for Rafael Nadal, and there are in fact only 50 in existence. Guardiola, 53, is one of those privileged few, and there aren't many pieces on the planet that are worth more.
To put the seven-figure price tag into context, that's enough to purchase one member of Guardiola's squad five times over. Veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson is the least valuable player on the City roster with a price tag of a little less than £200,000, per Transfermarkt.
Fellow stopper Stefan Ortega is the next most valuable City asset and is valued at around £8million. Therefore, one would need a hefty percentage of all the Calibre RM27-01 watches on the planet to purchase anyone else from Guardiola's squad.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was dressed to impress in Madrid, but it wasn't enough to get a winning result from the first leg. That being said, City will fancy their chances with a level scoreline returning to the Etihad Stadium next week.
In that sense, Guardiola won't be looking at his one-of-50 watch as a good luck charm just yet. But that could all change if he's wearing it while the Premier League powerhouse manages to oust Los Blancos from the running.
