Pep Guardiola called out Jack Grealish for his performance against Arsenal in front of the cameras
Pep Guardiola brutally berated Jack Grealish on the pitch after Manchester City's 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
Reigning Premier League champions City and last years' runners-up Arsenal had to settle for a point apiece in a title-race crunch clash at the Etihad. Defensive focus and a lack of quality in the final third on the day made for a cagey affair, with neither side delighted nor unhappy with the result.
But Guardiola in particular cut a furious figure as he gave Grealish, who was substituted on alongside Jeremy Doku in a double change for Phil Foden and Mateo Kovacic on the hour mark, a very public dressing down while still in front of the cameras at full-time.
The Spaniard made a beeline for Grealish at the whistle, gesticulating aggressively at the Englishman while barking tactical advice. Guardiola appeared to be criticising his winger for a specific moment in the game while a solemn-looking Grealish took it all in and nodded disappointedly.
He did not necessarily have an impact on the game, but even City fans would have admitted that he was far from their worst player. And others took to social media to voice their annoyance towards Guardiola's bizarre behaviour, where most other managers would not have publicly embarrassed a player in the same manner.

One X user wrote: “Why does Guardiola insist on bo****ing someone at FT in front of the cameras? And why Grealish? Doku with an absolutely horrible cameo there,” while another tweeted: “Pep Guardiola can be a prat sometimes. Publicly berating Grealish on the pitch for the world to see. Grealish should look to move.”
A third commented: “Guardiola is cooking Grealish,” while a fourth added: “Guardiola at it again. Giving Grealish a humiliating dressing down straight after the game on the pitch. He looked crest-fallen. Save it for the dressing room.”
Others chimed in with: “Guardiola berating Grealish on the pitch after the game. Why wouldn't he just do it in the dressing room after the game?” And: “Always plays up for the cameras.”
