If Barcelona cannot afford to sign Manchester City's Joao Cancelo on a long-term contract, Arsenal is allegedly prepared to make a summer raid for the full-back. Cancelo has a contract with Man City through June 2027, but after losing favour with Pep Guardiola, it appears that he will not be playing at the Etihad Stadium in the future.
Cancelo has openly stated his desire to join Barcelona permanently, and Man City is reportedly willing to let him go this summer. The Sun claims that Barca's financial issues prevent them from agreeing to pay Man City's £40 million asking price for Cancelo. It's currently being said that the Catalan behemoths are unwilling to pay anything more than a borrowing fee.
Man City-bound Claudio Echeverri set to join Girona on loan
Journalist Sebastian Srur reports that Manchester City attacker Claudio Echeverri is likely to join Girona in January 2025 on a short-term loan before heading to Etihad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Argentine wonderkid who formally signed for the Cityzens earlier in January, will remain at his club River Plate until the end of the current calendar year and was initially expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium for the start of 2025.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reaffirmed that Frenkie de Jong is happy at the club and that "the last thing he would want" is to leave. De Jong has been linked with a move to the Premier League but has no plans to leave, according to the Camp Nou chief.
"The last thing he would want is to leave Barcelona. He has told me more than once, that he is delighted here," Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.

The Eagles are set to enter in a three-way transfer race alongside Brentford and Wolves to secure the signature of the forward.
