The German FA have denied reports that Jurgen Klopp has been offered the chance to replace Julian Nagelsmann as manager of the national team when he leaves Liverpool. Klopp is due to step down from his Anfield role at the end of the season, bringing an end to his successful nine-year stint in charge of the Reds.
Klopp is yet to announce his next move in football but reports in Germany have suggested that he could manage the national team when Nagelsmann's contract runs out. The latter is only tied down until after the end of this summer's Euros, meaning that Germany could soon be looking for a new head coach if his deal is not extended.
Andreas Rettig, the German FA's managing director, has insisted that Klopp is not being considered to replace Nagelsmann despite some reports suggesting otherwise. Speaking to German magazine Focus, Rettig said: "There has been no contact. He has given himself a break.
"I don't know whether we should be giving him travel tips on how to enjoy his free time. He wants a break and that's why it is not an issue."

Klopp has already made it clear that he is planning on taking some time away from football before deciding on his next career move. In a lengthy interview with Liverpool's official channels following the announcement of his decision to step down, he said: "I cannot just sit around, I will find something else maybe to do.
"I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year, that’s not possible, I cannot do that and I don’t want to. That’s all. It’s such a strange situation because I have to explain that I don’t have energy anymore, but now I’m sitting here and I have energy and I’m buzzing for everything that’s happening here."
The outgoing Liverpool boss went on to insist that he will never manage another English club due to his Anfield connections, saying: "If you ask me: ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’, I would say now no, but I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation.
"What I know definitely [is that] I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent."
Klopp has reportedly been identified as a target by the BBC and ITV as a leading pundit for their coverage of the Euros, which are set to be held in Germany later this year. However, according to the Daily Mail, he is set to decline their offers and attend the tournament as a fan having already bought tickets for Germany's three group stage matches.
