Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left Manchester United in 2021, and German giants Bayern Munich could now offer him a route back into management if they decided to sack Thomas Tuchel

It's been a hot minute since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last graced TV screens in the UK, in fact, the world was still reeling from covid.
In Manchester, Ralf Rangnick came and went, Cristiano Ronaldo was also shown the door, while the Erik ten Hag era is now is almost two years deep. And the Red half of the city cast eyes of envy to their nosy neighbours as Manchester City won the treble last season.
Solskjaer, who was part of Manchester United's famous treble winning outfit back in 1999, would have been watching on from his native Norway. On their way to treble success, City humiliated Bayern Munich in their own back yard, as United had done all those years ago.
That game was Thomas Tuchel's first as Bayern boss, and just under 12 months later, there are now talks he could be replaced by the Norwegian.
So where has Solskjaer been hiding all these years? It seems he's been waiting for the right job to return, admitting he's turned up his nose at numerous opportunities across Europe.
Speaking after leaving United, he explained, via the Manchester Evening News: "I'll spend some time with my family.
"It's been probably the most difficult part during the pandemic - with Norway being open and here being closed - my family moved back to Norway and the young one, he loves it back there. We've lived apart."
Spending time with his family has included coaching his son in the Kristiansund academy, taking training for the club's U14s last year before managing the side for a number of youth fixtures.
Prior to taking up the role with his hometown club, The Athletic reported, in 2022, that Solskjaer had turned down offers to go into punditry as well as a return to management.
Norwegian outlet VG also claimed that he had been approached by a Premier League club after leaving United but had rejected their advances to lure him back into the dugout. Solskajer himself even joked he had offers from Saudi Arabia.
Instead, Solskjaer decided to undertake a new role as UEFA technical observer - but he remained keen to return to management.

And he might be handed the perfect route back into management via the Bavarian giants.
According to Sky Germany, Solskjaer is being earmarked as a short term replacement for Tuchel if Bayern opt to part ways with him at the end of the season.
