Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid when his PSG contract expires at the end of the season.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for years and it appears Los Blancos have finally got their man, as per Foot Mercato. It's understood the two parties reached an agreement a few days ago, with Mbappe free to talk to clubs from New Year's Day due to his contractual situation.
According to reports, the financial package Mbappe has agreed to is lower than the one Real Madrid offered him in 2022. The La Liga giants made Mbappe, 25, their number one transfer target a few years ago and have attempted to lure him to Spain every summer since.
They wanted to bring him in as Karim Benzema's replacement following the striker's move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but financial difficulties prevented the move from happening. Mbappe refused to sign an extension on his PSG contract when the deal collapsed, which initially saw him exiled from the first team.
But the ex-Monaco man was eventually brought back into the picture by manager Luis Enrique, who hoped to convince him to stay in Paris. But it looks as if his efforts have failed, and PSG will now lose their star man for nothing. The news also comes as a blow to clubs in the Premier League, who were hoping to gazump Madrid and coax the 2018 World Cup-winner to England.
Mbappe has been on fire this season, scoring 25 goals in 24 games for PSG. On Sunday, he scored a hat-trick in his side's 9-0 thumping of sixth-tier outfit Revel in the French Cup and is the leading scorer in Ligue 1 with 18 strikes - 10 more than his closest rival.
He's scored an eyewatering 237 goals in six-and-a-half years at the Parc des Princes, averaging 35 goals per season. He joined the club from Monaco in 2017 for £160million. His departure means PSG will have lost Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi all in the space of 12 months.
At Madrid, he'll link up with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr, and will spearhead Carlo Ancelotti's attack.
