David Beckham couldn't resist a cheeky dig at wife Victoria as she again lived up to her 'Posh' nickname.
The Beckhams enjoyed a refined New Year's Eve by getting dressed up and dining with Victoria's parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, at The Ritz in London. As he shared a picture of the quartet at the table, the Manchester United and England legend mocked his wife's claim that she came from a "working class" background, which she made in the recent Netflix documentary series about her husband.
Victoria's statement about her modest upbringing is a little questionable given Tony used to drive her school in a Rolls Royce, a fact pointed out by David in the documentary.
As he posted the image, he captioned: "Just a nice casual New Year's Eve lunch at The Ritz. @victoriabeckham Very working class. My mother & father in law left in their Rolls." Not rising to the bait, Victoria replied: "Special NY Eve I love you xxxxxxx."
During the episode in question, the former Spice Girl addressed her childhood, saying: "We both come from families that worked very hard, we're very working class."
Hearing the interview, David then interjects: "Be honest" before Victoria replies: "I am being honest." David then asks: "What car did your dad drive you to school in?" Stuttering, Victoria answers: "So my dad did..." before he interrupts again, saying: "It just needs one answer."
She insists it's not "a simple answer" before he presses her again on the make of the car. Finally getting her words out, Victoria admits: "It depends but yes, in the 80s my dad had a Rolls Royce."
David then quips "thank you" and exits the scene. His latest joke at his wife's expense suggests he is not feeling too raw about missing out on a knighthood which again eluded him in the New Year's Honours List.
