Manchester United have reportedly submitted an offer to Carlo Ancelotti with a view of replacing Erik ten Hag as their head coach next season, according to reports in Spain. The Real Madrid boss is entering the final months of his contract with the La Liga giants and with no new offer on the horizon, United may be looking to appoint the Italian as doubts circulate about Ten Hag's future.
The 64-year-old looks set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season with speculation persistently linking him with the Brazil national team job.
Ancelotti has insisted he will see out the remainder of his deal, which expires in June 2024. But it appears United are already making preparations for Ancelotti to take over at Old Trafford from next season, which will inevitably apply more pressure on Ten Hag after a disappointing start to the season.
Spanish radio programme Tiempo de Juego on Cope report that Ancelotti has received an offer from a Premier League club who are 'looking for a coach next season'.
The reporter in question, Juanma Castano, was asked to reveal the identity of the club and confirmed that a return to Chelsea or Everton were off the cards as the club were 'bigger' than the Toffees.
Manchester City are also floated as a possible destination before they were dismissed. A radio panel member then mentioned 'Manchester United?', to which Castano confirmed it was the Red Devils who made the offer.
The reporter adds that the influence of Casemiro, who was coached by Ancelotti in two separate spells in the Spanish capital, could have influence. Alejandro Garnacho is also said to be a huge admirer of the Italian tactician with both players 'interested' in seeing him replace Ten Hag at the helm.

Ancelotti has past experience managing in the Premier League, having guided Chelsea to a league and FA Cup double in 2009-10, before he was sacked by Roman Abramovich after finishing second the following season.
Since then, he has won league titles with PSG and Real Madrid, as well as clinching the Champions League in 2013-14 and 2022-23.
It comes after Ten Hag led United to a third successive victory in the Premier League with a 3-0 success over Everton on Sunday, their biggest away win of the season.
The Dutchman appeared to be on the brink of the sack after heavy defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle earlier in November, but the 53-year-old's uplift in results may have bought him some time. However, speculation concerning Ancelotti will spark some fears that Ten Hag's reign could be ended prematurely, with his three-year contract expiring in 2025.
Ancelotti has already resigned himself to leaving Madrid after three years in charge, having replaced his former assistant Zinedine Zidane in July 2021.
In a press conference before their 3-0 win over Cadiz on Sunday, he named his former protege Xabi Alonso as his likely successor - although reports suggest Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has been approached to replace him.
"Xabi Alonso? He can be a future Real Madrid manager, without a doubt. He can do this job; he has all the qualities to be a good manager," Ancelotti told reporters.
"I like him and how he coaches his team. He's one of the managers I like the most."
