Carlo Ancelotti's big summer signing is on a record-breaking scoring run
Jude Bellingham continued to find the net in La Liga, while Vinicius Jr rounded into form, as Real Madrid put four past Osasuna to go top of the league. The Englishman scored two — and surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo's mark for goal contributions in his first 10 games — before Vinicius and Joselu rounded out the scoring in a comfortable 4-0 win.
Bellingham, once again, was at the centre of Madrid's opener. The Englishman received a layoff from Dani Carvajal before evading a defender and finishing with his left foot to give Los Blancos a 1-0 lead after 10 minutes. Madrid offered little else going forward in the first half, and could have been made to pay — but Osasuna's Jon Moncayola blasted wide on the stroke of half time.
The Englishman gave Madrid breathing space early in the second half. This time, though, it was Federico Valverde who played provider, flicking the ball through the defence to an advancing Bellingham, who tucked the ball between the keeper's legs.
Vinicius put the game beyond doubt after an hour, running through on goal, rounding the keeper and poking home to bag his first goal since returning from injury. Joselu bagged a fourth shortly after, Vinicius setting him up for a simple right-footed finish from a kind angle. A missed penalty from Joselu, late on, did little to sour what was an otherwise excellent afternoon for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
Goalkeeper & Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga (7/10):
Had very little to do. Will be happy to keep a clean sheet.
Dani Carvajal (7/10):
Another impressive showing at right-back. Played very high up the pitch, and was instrumental in the Madrid opener.
Aurelien Tchouameni (6/10):
Filled in at centre-back with Madrid limited by injuries and suspensions. Didn't always look the most comfortable positionally, and picked up a silly booking.
Antonio Rudiger (8/10):
Calm at the back, and made a few key clearances when Osasuna attacked.
Ferland Mendy (7/10):
Preferred to Fran Garcia again. Not as exciting going forward, but gives the valuable defensive cover that allows Vinicius to roam.
Midfield
Eduardo Camavinga (7/10):
Covered a lot of ground and kept the ball moving effectively. Looks much better as a lone No.6.
Federico Valverde (8/10):
Quietly excellent from central midfield. Ran loads and set up Bellingham's second goal with aplomb. Really finding form after a shaky start.
Luka Modric (7/10):
Completed the most passes in the match. Floated about and did lots of pleasing things on the ball.
Jude Bellingham (10/10):
Scored a smooth first. His second was arguably better. Has now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo's record for goal contributions in his first 10 games at the club. Masterful.
Attack
Joselu (7/10):
Took his goal well, but then saw a very poor penalty denied.
Vinicius Jr (8/10):
Spent the early stages of the game trying to do too much. Overdribbled, took speculative shots, and really could have kept it simpler. Still, he took his goal wonderfully and improved immensely in the second half.
Subs & Manager
Toni Kroos (7/10):
A useful cameo. Gave Madrid control as the game wore on.
Rodrygo (5/10):
Getting closer to finding the net, but it's still not quite working for him at the moment.
Dani Ceballos (7/10):
Impressive in a 20 minute showing.
Lucas Vazquez (N/A):
No time to make an impact
Brahim Diaz (N/A):
No time to make an impact
Carlo Ancelotti (8/10):
His selection was pretty much as expected, other than Tchouameni at centre-back, and Modric starting. Los Blancos weren't always brilliant, but they exploded at the right moments, and were good value for their win. He will have very few complaints.
