Islandia reacciona

Runarsson, el mejor jugador islandés, sacó con el pie el remate del capitán luso.
En la segunda parte Portugal volvió a la carga. Cristiano Ronaldo entró mucho más en juego y no cesó de buscar el gol desde su inicio con un testarazo tras un córner que se le fue alto por poco (49'). Pero los islandeses contrarrestaron inteligentemente la persistencia de CR7 haciéndole incurrir en varias ocasiones en fuera de juego.
Islandia se queda con diez
El dominio de Portugal fue aplastante, pero no veía la forma de imponer su superioridad técnica incluso cuando Willum Thor Willumsson fue expulsado al ver la segunda amarilla por una dura entrada con los piernas por delante sobre Gonçalo Inacio e Islandia se quedó en inferioridad(80').
El VAR concede el gol a Cristiano
Pero en el minuto 89 Cristiano Ronaldo encontró la recompensa a su esfuerzo gracias al VAR. Raphaël Guerreiro envió un balón al área por alto, Inaçio, rozando el fuera de juego, se lo puso en bandeja de cabeza a CR7, quien solo tuvo que empujar a la red.
