En el mismo grupo de España, el A, la Noruega de Erling Haaland logró este martes contra Chipre un triunfo que le era imprescindible para no complicar aún más sus opciones de clasificarse para la Eurocopa 2024 (3-1). Fue la primera victoria de la selección escandinava en esta fase, después de haber sumado un solo punto en los 3 anteriores partidos.
Ola Solbakken adelantó a Noruega en la primera parte y Haaland sentenció con su doblete en la segunda. El astro del Manchester City acaba, con 56 goles, como máximo realizador de la temporada (entre su selección y su club), superando a Kylian Mbappé (54), con quien estaba empatado.
Atacó sin cesar la selección noruega durante la primera parte, pero, debido a su falta de precisión y a las intervenciones de Joel Mall, el portero de Chipre, solo pudo marcar un gol, obra de Ola Solbakken, aprovechando un balón que le envió Alexander Sorloth en el minuto 12.
Ni Haaland ni sus compañeros pudieron aprovechar en la primera mitad las restantes ocasiones que creó Noruega, entre ellas el balón, tras un buen disparo del astro del Manchester City, que desvió el meta Joel Mall. O la oportunidad que tuvo Fredrik Aursnes. Al descanso se llegó con mínima ventaja para Noruega.
En la segunda parte llegó la hora de Haaland. Después de una primera parte en la que no pudo marcar, logró en la segunda su doblete. Haaland consiguió su primer tanto en el minuto 57 al transformar un penalti (por mano de Nikolas Ioannou) y el segundo en el 60', en una acción en que supo desmarcarse muy bien y en la que aprovechó un buen pase de Martin Odegaard.
Con su doblete Haaland dejó sentenciado el partido y el primer triunfo de Noruega en esta fase de clasificación para la Eurocopa 2024. Tuvo más oportunidades la selección nórdica, pero no pudo aprovecharlas. El 3-1 le dio aire. Chipre, mientras tanto, logró su gol del honor en el 93' por mediación de Grigoris Kastanos.
