El ex jugador de Barça y City ha puesto fin a su periplo de un año en la Academia del Tottenham
Touré Yaya inicia una nueva etapa de su carrera en los banquillos. A sus 40 años, el ex centrocampista de FC Barcelona y Manchester City, entre otros equipos, ha sido nombrado ayudante de Carl Hoefkens, desde el viernes nuevo entrenador del Standard Lieja, según ha anunciado hoy el club belga.
Touré Yaya inició su carrera de entrenador en febrero de 2021 como segundo del Olimpik Dontesk ucraniano, cargo en el que estuvo apenas tres meses. En junio de dicho año fue contratado por el Akhmat Grozny, de la Premier League rusa, para desempeñar la misma función por espacio de seis meses, hasta diciembre.
En agosto pasado Touré Yaya aterrizó en el Tottenham, donde ha dirigido esta última temporada al equipo Sub-16 de la Academia 'spur'.
Ahora el ex jugador de Costa de Marfil, cuya selección defendió en 101 partidos internacionales, recela en el fútbol belga para seguir acumulando experiencia en los banquillos antes de que acumule la formación para dar el paso como entrenador principal.
Touré Yaya será el ayudante de Carl Hoefkens, técnica belga que estaba sin equipo desde que en diciembre pasado fue destituido por el Club Brujas tras un excelente inicio de temporada que le llevó a clasificar al equipo flamenco para los octavos de final de la Champions tras superar en su grupo al Atlético de Madrid.
Hoefkens llega al Standard en sustitución de Ronny Deila, destituido a dos jornadas del final de una decepcionante temporada del histórico equipo de Lieja, que acabó sexto en la fase regular del campeonato belga quedando fuera del playoff por el título. Curiosamente Deila ha sido fichado por el Club Brujas para el próximo curso.

Touré Yaya jugó en Beveren (2001-2003), Metalurg Dometsk (2003-2005), Olympiacos (2005-2006), Mónaco (2006-2007), FC Barcelona (2007-2010), Manchester City (2010-2018), otra vez Olympiacos (2018) y Gingdao Huanghai (2019-2020).
