El Hellas Verona estará la próxima temporada en la Serie A tras golear a un Spezia (1-3) que baja a la Serie B en el partido de desempate que se disputó este domingo en Sassuolo al haber finalizado ambos equipos empatados a 31 puntos en la tabla.
El Mapei Stadium–Città del Tricolore fue el escenario que se preparó para dirimir el partido del 'spareggio', algo que no sucedía en Italia desde 2005, aunque en aquella ocasión, el Parma-Bolonia se disputó a partido doble.
Esta vez fue un todo o nada entre dos equipos que inauguraron la regla reintroducida este misma temporada que dispone que en caso de empate a puntos entre primer y segundo clasificado, o entre 17º y 18º, se eliminan los criterios de goles a favor y en contra o los enfrentamientos directos y se juega un choque en campo neutro.
El Verona se avanza pero empata el Spezia
Empezó mucho mejor un Verona que enseguida marcó territorio. El italiano Davide Faraoni, capitán del conjunto veronés, cruzó el balón en el minuto cuatro casi desde la frontal del área y superó al polaco Bartlomiej Dragowski para poner el primero en el marcador.
Eso sí, la superioridad del Verona fue aplacada poco después por el galés Ethan Ampadu, que, con un disparo que tocó en dos defensas ligeramente, volvió a meter al Spezia en el partido.
Ngonge decide con su doblete
Pero el Hellas estaba siendo netamente superior, no se amilanó ante la respuesta del Spezia y antes del descanso encarriló su permanencia. El belga Cyril Ngonge rubricó un doblete que cerró una gran temporada en el Verona, al que se sumó este invierno y al que no ha podido salirle más rentable, dándole la permanencia.
Roja a Faraoni y Nzola falla un penalti
En la segunda mitad, el Spezia pudo meterse de nuevo el choque pero el angoleño Mbala Nzola, el mejor de los de Ligura, erró desde los once metros un penalti por mano de Faraoni que dejó al Verona con uno menos pero que acabó con todas la posibilidades de remontada.
Los descensos y los ascensos, ya decididos
El Verona estará en Serie A la próxima temporada, una liga que ya tiene el cartel completo tras certificarse el ascenso del Cagliari, del Frosinone y del Genoa.
El Spezia, por su parte, se une al Sampdoria y al Cremonese y cae a la Serie B.
