Marko Livaja, delantero internacional croata en 21 ocasiones, con cuatro goles y dos asistencias, no disputará la 'Final Four' de la Nations League, según decidió este martes junto al seleccionador, Zlatko Dalic, tras un "incidente" en el entrenamiento del lunes, en el que varios aficionados insultaron al futbolista, según explicó la Federación Croata de Fútbol.
Hablan de "atmósfera desagradable"
Livaja, jugador del Hajduk Split, "habló con el entrenador" sobre este hecho ocurrido en el estadio HNK Rijeka y ambos "coincidieron" en que este "incidente creó una atmósfera desagradable y un ambiente en el que es imposible" para el jugador "concentrarse" en el torneo continental, que se disputa en Países Bajos y en el que Croacia se enfrenta el 14 de junio en una de las semifinales a la selección anfitriona.
El atacante abandona la preparación para el torneo junto a sus compañeros. "Después de todo lo que ha sucedido en las últimas 24 horas, siento que no estoy listo para darle al equipo nacional mi máximo nivel y que al quedarme sólo sería una molestia para un equipo que merece tener calma durante los preparativos para esta importante competición", apuntó el propio Livaja, en declaraciones recogidas en la página web oficial de su federación.
"Les deseo a los chicos toda la suerte, para lograr el título, para lo que tienen calidad y unidad. Agradezco al entrenador su comprensión, al presidente Kustić y al equipo de la Federación su apoyo y espero que los aficionados del equipo nacional lo entiendan. La selección significa mucho para mí y espero seguir siendo miembro de ella en el futuro", añadió el delantero.
"Lamento mucho que haya llegado a esto y que el comportamiento inaceptable de varios individuos nos haya llevado a perder a un jugador importante para esta competición", expuso Dalic.
"Entiendo a Mark y la gravedad de la situación en la que se encontró. Y respeto que después de todo lo sucedido no se sienta listo para participar en la final de la Nations League. Marko sigue en nuestros planes para el futuro. Y nuestros objetivos en la Nations siguen siendo los mismos", abundó el seleccionador.
