El Liverpool asume con naturalidad el papel de favorito en una eliminatoria peligrosa para los de Jürgen Klopp. Los ‘reds’, en un excelente momento de forma y tras recuperar a Salah y Mané después disputar la Copa África, tratarán de evitar sobresaltos ante un Inter que reconoce su inferioridad, aunque sin renunciar a poder dar la sorpresa.
No hay certezas en estas instancias más allá de que para pasar ronda ambos equipos deberán emplearse a fondo. El Inter perdió el liderato de la liga italiana el pasado fin de semana y hace dos el derbi milanés, aunque la ilusión por volver a unos octavos diez años después impulsan a los ‘neroazzurri’ a sacar las garras ante un Liverpool pletórico.
Los ‘reds’ vienen de encadenar cinco victorias consecutivas y los dos goles encajados en los cinco últimos encuentros muestran la mejoría defensiva del equipo, sobre todo con un Alisson en plena forma y un Virgil Van Dijk que vuelve a estar al mejor nivel. En ataque Salah y Mané serán de nuevo los encargados de generar peligro, desplazando a su flamante fichaje, Luis Díaz, al banquillo. En punta Firmino tiene más números dadas las molestias de Diogo Jota, que de jugar aportaría más gol que el brasileño.
Mientras, Simone Inzaghi no podrá contar con Barella, pieza clave en el centro del campo para el técnico, en una baja que se presenta como un duro revés para el conjunto italiano, aunque finalmente si podrá alinear a Bastoni tras recuperarse a tiempo para el duelo.
