El Chelsea no dejó lugar este miércoles a la remontada del Tottenham, volvió a ganar, como en la ida, a los Spurs y jugará el 27 de febrero la final de la Carabao Cup contra el Liverpool o el Arsenal en Wembley. Los 'blues' derrotaron con un gol de Antonio Rüdiger a un Tottenham que fue también víctima de sus propios errores (0-1).
El Chelsea luchará así por su sexta Carabao Cup (Copa de la Liga inglesa) tras una eliminatoria en la que fue netamente superior a los Spurs, a los que ganó por 2-0 en el primer asalto y por 0-1 en el segundo.
Al Tottenham le fue anulado un gol de Harry Kane por fuera de juego y se quedó también sin dos penaltis que inicialmente había señalado el colegiado, Andre Marriner (de Rüdiger sobre Hojbjerg y de Kepa sobre Lucas Moura). Pero en ambas ocasiones el VAR dictaminó que no existió pena máxima.
El tanto de Rüdiger, de cabeza, a la salida de un córner servido por Mason Mount en el minuto 18, premió el dominio del Chelsea en la primera parte ante un rival al que le costó mucho empezar a llegar ante la portería de Kepa, titular ante la ausencia de Edouard Mendy, con Senegal en la Copa de África.
El exguardameta del Athletic llevó a cabo una buena actuación, con una gran parada en un remate de Emerson Royal y otra buena intervención tras un disparo de Sessegnon. En el Tottenham Gollini jugó en vez de Hugo Lloris y evitó al inicio del encuentro un gol de RomeluLukaku y erró en el tanto de Rüdiger.
El último pase le falló al Tottenham demasiado como para pensar en remontar el 2-0 logrado por el Chelsea en Stamford Bridge. Ahora al equipo de Antonio Conte le toca pensar en el derbi del norte de Londres que jugará el domingo contra el Arsenal. Mientras, el Chelsea se mide el sábado nada menos que contra el Manchester City de Pep Guardiola, líder contra segundo.
