La selección de México derrotó este miércoles de visita a El Salvador con tantos de Héctor Moreno y Raúl Jiménez para reafirmarse como líder de la eliminatoria de Concacaf rumbo al mundial de Catar 2022.
Con cuatro victorias, dos empates y 14 puntos, el combinado del argentino Gerardo 'Tata' Martino lidera la eliminatoria por delante de Estados Unidos (11) y Canadá (10), que ganaron sus respectivos duelos en la sexta jornada. El Salvador quedó empatado con cinco puntos con Jamaica, por atrás de Panamá (8) y Costa Rica (6).
Los mexicanos tomaron rápidamente el control del balón y presionaron la salida de los salvadoreños, que contaban con el respaldo de miles de aficionados que abarrotaron el estadio Cuscatlán, en San Salvador.
A pesar de su dominio, a la escuadra mexicana le tomó 12 minutos generar su primera opción clara de gol con un cabezazo de Osvaldo Rodríguez tras un saque de esquina. Esta misma formula le permitió a los visitantes marcar el 0-1 a los 30 minutos por medio de Héctor Moreno, quien cabeceó sin marca en momentos en los que los salvadoreños intentaban generar peligro.
Las aspiraciones de la selecta salvadoreña, que no realizó ni un solo disparo a puerta, de igualar el marcador se vieron menguadas tras la expulsión del debutante Mario Jacobo con roja directa en el 48.
Los de Hugo Pérez lograron aumentar su posesión del balón tras la expulsión de Néstor Araujo por doble amarilla, pero la defensa mexicana libró su arco sin mayores preocupaciones.
En las postrimerías del partido, Raúl Jiménez robó un balón por la banda derecha y arrastró a la defensa hasta el área, donde fue derribado y el arbitró pitó penalti. El mismo Jiménez puso el 0-2, sin que los salvadoreños tuvieran tiempo de intentar recortar el marcador.
Tras esta visita a El Salvador, México tendrá que viajar a Estados Unidos, Canadá y Jamaica. Los salvadoreños, que se quedaron en el séptimo lugar, recibirán en noviembre a Jamaica y visitarán a Panamá y Estados Unidos.
