Pep Guardiola quiere un descanso. Tras siete años dirigiendo al Manchester City, el técnico catalán dejará de entrenar por un tiempo en cuanto finalice su contrato con el club inglés, es decir, en 2023. Así lo ha confirmado él mismo en un evento de la compañía brasileña de inversión XP Investimentos.
Guardiola quiere ser seleccionador y poner un punto y aparte en su trayectoria de clubes. "Una selección es el siguiente paso. Debo tomarme un descanso después de siete años en el Manchester City, necesito detenerme y ver, aprender de otros entrenadores y tal vez tomar ese camino. Me gustaría dirigir en una Eurocopa, una Copa América o un Mundial", aseguró.
El técnico del City dijo que no piensa en un equipo en concreto para entrenar en el futuro, pero consideró difícil hacerse cargo de la selección brasileña. Según él, para los extranjeros es más complicado gestionar "equipos importantes como Brasil", que suelen tener técnicos nacionales.
No faltaron sus elogios al actual combinado sudamericano dirigido por Tite. “Es un equipo fantástico. Algunos jugadores han coincidido en los mismos clubes, otros fueron rivales. Es una selección maravillosa. Brasil es siempre un candidato temible, siempre lo ha sido y siempre lo será", aseveró Guardiola.
Su currículum como entrenador es extenso y existoso. Dirigió al Barcelona B entre 2007 y 2008. Luego se hizo cargo del primer equipo y conquistó 14 títulos en una etapa legendaria desde 2008 hasta 2012. El siguiente proyecto fue en el Bayern de Múnich, entre 2013 y 2016. Desde 2016 está al mando del Manchester City. Ha logrado 31 trofeos en su carrera.
