Un gol final de Bird, en un error de Tello, castigó al equipo verdiblanco, que acusó su falta de pegada
Tercer amistoso del Betis en pretemporada y segunda derrota de los hombres de Manuel Pellegrini, que además suman su segundo amistoso sin marcar. Y eso que los hombres que vistieron de azul en Pride Park tuvieron sus opciones para adelantarse en el marcador, aunque se encontraron con la buena actuación del portero local, Kelle Roos. Un error de Tello en la salida de balón en el tramo final, entregando el balón a un rival en la frontal en un cambio de dirección prohibido en el fútbol en esas posiciones, terminó enviándolo a la red Max Bird. Victoria del Derby County de Wayne Rooney, equipo de la Championship, en el primero de los dos amistosos que jugarán los béticos en Inglaterra. El sábado les espera el Leeds de Bielsa, donde deberán cambiar de cara y mostrar un mayor acierto de cara a portería.
El Betis, con un equipo repleto de canteranos, sobre todo en la parte de atrás, dominó el juego en el primer periodo. Eran los primeros minutos de Andrés Guardado esta temporada (la última, según sus propias palabras) y el mexicano demostró que si no le presionan es capaz de encontrar siempre el mejor pase. Con la movilidad de Ruibal y Rober tenía siempre una opción de buscar en largo. Fue Ruibal quien dispuso de las mejores ocasiones del conjunto de Pellegrini. Disparos lejanos fuera y sin colocación el que fue a portería. Hasta que mediado el primer acto se quedó mano a mano (por cortesía de Guardado y su buen control) delante de Kelle Roos. No supo definir. Apenas tuvo tiempo de elegir dónde ponerla ante la rápida salida del portero. El Betis no pudo marcharse al descanso con ventaja, aunque sin demasiados teóricos titulares demostró que la idea del entrenador está más que asimilada y que los jóvenes, en este año de pocos fichajes por la situación económica, pueden ayudar cuando Pellegrini les llame.
El entrenador cambió la configuración del ataque en el segundo periodo, dejando a Loren en el banquillo. Fekir se colocaba como hombre más adelantado, con su hermano por detrás, mientras William Carvalho (en sus primeros minutos de pretemporada) y Canales llevaban las manijas del Betis. Y en una llegada por la izquierda, Nabil Fekir se quedaba solo delante del portero y su fuerte disparo lo sacó Roos con una mano excepcional. Seguían los béticos dominando y llegando con cierta facilidad. El conjunto de Wayne Rooney se limitó a jugar directo en el primer tiempo. En la segunda agarró la pelota y se comenzó a presentar con cierto peligro cerca de Rui Silva, en su primera titularidad esta pretemporada. Y con el mayor dominio del Derby llegó otra gran ocasión para Fekir. Nueva jugada por la izquierda, para que el francés peinase al larguero. Se le resistía el primer gol al Betis.
Pellegrini sacó la artillería pesada en ataque con la entrada de Borja Iglesias, Tello o Rodri. Y Joel en portería, que tuvo más trabajo que Rui Silva en 65 minutos. Kazim-Richards se quedó mano a mano con el portero y no puso superar su rápida salida. El partido se encaminaba al empate sin goles. Y ahí apareció un error imperdonable de Cristian Tello. Balón horizontal en el pico del área propia del
extremo catalán y el robo del equipo inglés terminó con el tanto de Bird desde la fronta. Segundo tropiezo consecutivo de un Betis que tuvo mejores sensaciones. Pero manda el resultado.
