No era quién tenía los focos encima, ni siquiera era el jugador del que se había hablado en la previa del debut del Barcelona en la pretemporada. Rey Manaj se convirtió en el héroe inesperado de un Barça que arrolló al Nàstic de Tarragona (4-0) en unos últimos minutos frenéticos de partido, ante la explosión de un Johan Cruyff que había estado una hora sin poder celebrar ningún gol en la vuelta del público a un partido del primer equipo barcelonista.
Manaj se llevó el balón del encuentro con una exhibición en el área. Una demostración de cómo se posiciona un nueve, de cómo se remata a portería, de cómo se protege el balón con el cuerpo y de cómo se define un lanzamiento de penalti. En media hora, el delantero albanés lo hizo todo bien. Se revolvió en el área para quitarse de encima el defensa y fusiló a Gonzi con un disparo potentísimo que pegó en el larguero y se coló en la portería sin que el portero del Nàstic pudiera ni siquiera visualizar el balón. Luego, definió con el pecho dentro del área pequeña tras un buen desmarque y un buen centro de Hiroki Abe. Y, ya en el último suspiro, anotó su hattrick de penalti. Portero a la izquierda, lanzamiento a la derecha.
El goleador del filial blaugrana hizo lo que mejor sabe hacer. Definir. Y lo hizo tras un partido dividido en prácticamente dos encuentros distintos. En el primer tiempo, Ronald Koeman alineó a todos los futbolistas del primer equipo disponibles: Neto, Dest, Piqué, Umititi, Pjanic, Sergi Roberto y Riqui Puig. Todos dentro. Les acompañaron el lateral zurdo Balde y un tridente de ataque del filial: Yusuf Demir, Escobar y Peque Polo. No fue un primer tiempo brillante, pero Riqui y el joven austríaco Demir distrayeron al público. Fueron los dos jugadores más verticales, los que encararon, se atrevieron, mostraron descaro y generaron fútbol cerca del área de un Nàstic que no podía hacer nada más que defenderse.
Riqui dominaba el esférico, mientras Demir aceleraba el ritmo. El austríaco, cedido por el Rapid de Viena, demostró que quiere tener minutos en el primer equipo. En los entrenamientos ya sorprendió a Koeman, pero en el primer partido fue de lo más destacable del conjunto blaugrana. Además, el técnico le dio libertad, como se la da a Leo Messi en los partidos oficiales. El extremo partió de la derecha, pero hizo lo que quiso en todo momento. Condució hacia el centro, se fue a la izquierda, se mantuvo en el eje, probó disparos desde varias posiciones cerca de la frontal y presentó sus credenciales como un futbolista valiente, eléctrico y capaz de marcar las diferencias.
En el segundo tiempo llegaron los goles, los tres de Manaj y otro del capitán del filial Álex Collado, que se sintió cómodo como si se tratase de la temporada pasada. Koeman decidió jugar toda la segunda parte con futbolistas de la cantera, sin ningún jugador del primer equipo. Queda mucho por ver y por trabajar, pero el primer Barça de la pretemporada ya ha empezado a andar. El sábado, los blaugrana recibirán al Girona, veremos si ya con algunos internacionales en el equipo. Esta semana, Frenkie de Jong, Clément Lenglet, Antoine Griezmann y el nuevo fichaje Memphis Depay ya han pisado el césped.
