El club inglés pagará 15 millones de euros al Barcelona para hacerse con los servicios del lateral zurdo. El Betis cobrará un 15% del traspaso
El Barcelona ha activado la maquinaria para recortar la masa salarial de la primera plantilla masculina y deshacerse de varios futbolistas con los que no cuenta Ronald Koeman. El primero fue Jean-Claire Todibo, que se quedará en el Niza por 8,5 millones de euros tras seis meses de cesión en el club francés. El segundo, todavía no oficial, es el traspaso de Junior Firpo al Leeds United. La entidad inglesa y el Barcelona han llegado a un acuerdo y los Whites pagarán 15 millones de euros para llevarse al lateral zurdo de 24 años, que ha tenido varias ofertas de equipos de la Premier League y de la Serie A. Finalmente, Firpo se ha decantado por el Leeds por ser, tal y como ha podido saber GOAL, una petición expresa del técnico Marcelo Bielsa.
De esos 15 millones, el Real Betis se quedará un 15% , lo que equivale a 2,25 millones de euros. Ese porcentaje fue pactado entre el club blaugrana y el verdiblanco en el momento del fichaje del jugador por el Barça en verano de 2019 por 18 millones. En estos dos años como futbolista culé, Junior jugó menos de lo que esperaba. Jordi Alba siguió siendo el lateral insustituíble y el jugador nacido en Santo Domingo (República Dominicana) tuvo que ver la mayoría de partidos desde el banquillo. En dos temporadas, Junior Firpo saltó al césped en 41 ocasiones , 22 como titular, y anotó dos goles, ambos en Liga.
De hecho, con Ronald Koeman únicamente disputó siete encuentros oficiales de Liga. En este curso, con el técnico holandés no jugó ningún minuto hasta la jornada 10 del campeonato, es decir, que no participó en ningún encuentro liguero durante dos meses , desde el 27 de septiembre hasta el 29 de noviembre de 2020. En la fase de grupos de la Champions League sí formó parte del equipo, aunque solamente fue titular en el encuentro ante el Dinamo de Kiev en el Olimpiyskyi.
De los 12,75 millones a ingresar, el Barcelona podrá acumular solamente 3,2 millones a la bolsa de los fichajes. La situación económica del club es tan grave que, tal y como contó Joan Laporta en su primera rueda de prensa y luego confirmo el presidente de LaLiga, Javier Tebas, la entidad blaugrana solo puede utilizar un 25% de los ingresos por traspasos para reforzar la plantilla. El Barça acumula una deuda de más de 1.000 millones de euros y necesita recortar en salarios y amortizaciones antes de poder inscribir a los nuevos futbolistas para la temporada 2021-22.
