La tasa de positivos por Covid en la Copa América bajó del 1,7% del inicio de la competición al 0,7 % de la actualidad, con la mayoría de casos registrados en el personal logístico tercerizado, según informó este viernes la Conmebol.
Para la máxima autoridad del fútbol sudamericano el descenso es el "reflejo de la alta eficacia de los protocolos sanitarios aplicados" del torneo, que se disputa en Brasil desde el 13 de junio hasta el 10 de julio.
Según el cuadro comparativo de la Comisión Médica de la Conmebol, el 14 de junio se registraron 53 positivos, sobre 3.045 muestras, que representan el 1,73% del total, mientras que cinco días después, con 15.235 pruebas, los contagios fueron 140, el 0,9% del total.
Y este 21 de junio, con 22.856 muestras desde el comienzo de la Copa América, los positivos fueron 166, "con lo que la incidencia baja al 0,7%", señaló la Conmebol en un comunicado.
El ente recalcó como dato relevante que la "amplia mayoría de los casos positivos corresponden a personal tercerizado de apoyo logístico en Brasil que aún no había sido vacunado por razones ajenas" a la Conmebol.
Asimismo, el organismo reseñó que "los jugadores constituyen una absoluta minoría en el conjunto de positivos detectados en los test" y que muchos de ellos ya han sido "habilitados para futuros encuentros dentro del torneo luego de cumplir la cuarentena estricta dispuesta por el Ministerio de Salud del Brasil".
La incidencia del coronavirus en Brasil fue objeto de criticas por parte de sectores se oponían a la celebración en ese país de la Copa América, tras quedarse fuera Argentina y Colombia, designadas para compartir sede.
