El exinternacional español Eloy Olaya dice que “la selección tiene una savia nueva de futbolistas muy interesante”
El ex internacional español Eloy Olaya, presente en el Mundial de fútbol de México'86 y en la Eurocopa de Alemania'88, declaró a EFE este miércoles en Gijón que es "optimista" con el seleccionador español, Luis Enrique Martínez, del que ve que ha hecho "una apuesta arriesgada y valiente".
"Soy optimista con el seleccionador. Ha llegado el momento de cambiar un poco y hay una savia nueva de futbolistas que tiene España muy interesante", afirmó.
"La apuesta de Luis Enrique es arriesgada y valiente. Asume que hay futbolistas de gran arraigo que ya no están. Y opta por un equipo con hambre e ilusión, con muchísima juventud y calidad; y, sobre todo, muchísima velocidad, que es importantísimo", comentó a Efe Eloy, que jugó en el Real Sporting de Gijón y en el Valencia; y que en el Mundial de México, en el que participó en la histórica goleada a Dinamarca (5-1), en Querétaro.
"Creo que Luis Enrique ha impulsado el cambio generacional que en estos momentos es necesario en la Selección"; afirmó el ex delantero de la selección española. "Puede que haya relevado a muchos futbolistas a la vez, pero creo que las circunstancias obligan", opinó Eloy, nacido hace 56 años en Gijón.
"Ojalá deportivamente le salga todo bien a este grupo, que es un grupo con mucha juventud al que le puede faltar experiencia. Pero al que le sobra hambre e ilusión", manifestó a Eloy.
