Los nórdicos, con Odegaard en sus filas, se despidieron de la Costa del Sol con una derrota uy una victoria ante Luxemburgo
La selección de Noruega, con el goleador del Borussia Dortmund Erling Haaland y el madridista Martin Odegaard como figuras, cayó por 1-2 frente a una Grecia férrea en defensa y eficiente en ataque en su despedida del estadio de La Rosaleda de Málaga, donde el miércoles ganó por 1-0 a Luxemburgo en otro amistoso previo a su participación en la Eurocopa.
Un gol de cabeza a los 64 minutos del defensa Stefan Strandberg, a pase de Odegaard (cedido esta última temporada por el Real Madrid al Arsenal inglés), fue insuficiente para remontar los goles de los griegos Masouras y Androutsos en la primera parte de un partido en el que Haaland jugó los 90 minutos, pero sin demasiada presencia en ataque.
Grecia ya sorprendió a Países Bajos
Grecia, selección encuadrada en el mismo grupo que España en la fase clasificatoria para el Mundial de Qatar 2022 y que venía de empatar con Países Bajos el miércoles (2-2), consiguió superar al combinado noruego desde la defensa, con mucho orden en sus líneas y gran efectividad.
Arrancó con ritmo el encuentro y con una verticalidad mucho mayor de Noruega, obligada a generar desde cualquier zona de ataque ante la defensa de tres centrales de Grecia y fue el lateral Birger Meling el primero en testar al portero heleno a los 8 minutos.
0-2 al descanso
Sin embargo, la primera incursión dentro del área la tradujo en gol Grecia, con un magnífico pase filtrado de Dimitris Pelkas que no desperdició Giorgos Masouras, atacante del Olympiacos, al filo del primer cuarto de hora.
Un error garrafal de los nórdicos en un despeje propició el 0-2 de Grecia ocho minutos después, en el 21’, cuando Thanasis Androutsos, también del Olympiacos, recogió un centro dentro del área que prácticamente empujó al primer toque para marcar.
Haaland, sin aparecer
Con ese marcador adverso y con Erling Haaland sin aparecer, la mejoría de los noruegos la supo contrarrestar bien Grecia con su orden y seguridad atrás, con lo que se llegó al descanso con la sensación de que los helenos eran un equipo más consistente y al que ni Haaland ni Odegaard conseguían amenazar lo más mínimo.
Noruega hizo tres cambios para encarar la segunda mitad, confió en la presión alta y retrasó más a Odegaard para controlar más el medio campo, pero siguió enquistada hasta que un córner los metió en el partido. Fue en un testarazo de Strandberg que tocó el palo y entró, con algo de suspense, para poner el 1-2 en el 64’.
Reacción final de Noruega
A partir de entonces, el partido fue íntegramente de los nórdicos, que apretaron y se hicieron con el balón en busca del empate, pero todos sus intentos quedaron en vano gracias al muro de contención que propuso el conjunto griego, que consiguió anular a Haaland hasta el punto de que no dispuso de ninguna ocasión de gol.
Le selección capitaneada por Martin Odegaard, que ha estado concentrada estos días en el Marbella Football Center, se despidió de la Costa del Sol con un triunfo y una derrota en los dos encuentros disputados en La Rosaleda.
Noruega, que, como Grecia, no consiguió billete para la Eurocopa de este año, retomará en septiembre las eliminatorias de clasificación para el Mundial de Qatar 2022. En las tres jornadas ya disputadas, ganó a Gibraltar y a Montenegro y, en su primera vez en La Rosaleda, perdió frente a Turquía (0-3).
