El Comité de Competiciones de la UEFA lo ha aprobado hoy y la decisión definitiva corresponde al Comité Ejecutivo del organismo
El Comité de Competiciones de la UEFA, reunido hoy en Oporto antes de la final de la Champions League de mañana, ha decidido eliminar la regla del valor doble de los goles en campo contrario en caso de empate en las eliminatorias a doble partido que se aplica en las competiciones europeas.
La decisión no es definitiva, ya que para ello se necesita la aprobación del Comité Ejecutivo de la UEFA, que con su respaldo aceptaría finalmente una reclamación planteada desde hace tiempo por técnicos y jugadores, pero sobre todo desde la pandemia de Covid-19 al jugarse los partidos en campo neutral y a puerta cerrada debido a las restricciones sanitarias.
La regla del valor doble de los goles en campo contrario fue introducida por la UEFA en la temporada 1965-1966 y desde entonces se clasifica el equipo que, en caso de empate al final de los dos partidos de la eliminatoria, ha marcado más tantos fuera de casa.
El Bayern, eliminado esta temporada por esta regla
Sin ir más lejos esta temporada el Bayern Múnich, aún vigente campeón, quedó eliminado en cuartos de final de la Champions League por haber marcado menos goles en el Parque de los Príncipes (0-1) que los logrados por el PSG en el partido de ida disputado en el Allianz Arena (2-3).
No obstante, sorprende que la UEFA adopte una decisión tan drástica cuando en principio parecía que iba a decantarse por suprimir la regla del valor doble de los goles en campo contrario solo en las prórrogas, ya que, como denunció en su día Diego Simeone (entrenador del Atlético), en ese caso el equipo local cuenta con ventaja respecto al visitante siempre, claro está, cuando el partido se disputa con público.
