El Cerro Porteño paraguayo derrotó este miércoles al Deportivo La Guaira venezolano en Caracas por 0-1, gracias a un solitario gol del argentino Claudio Aquino, en un partido de la cuarta jornada del grupo H de la Copa Libertadores.
Como visitante, el Ciclón fue capaz de superar la defensa de sus rivales, algo que no pudieron hacer en el partido de ida que terminó en un empate sin goles.
Deportivo La Guaira saltó a la cancha a tratar de hacerse fuerte como local y obtener su primera victoria en Libertadores, puesto que hasta esta noche había empatado tres partidos y no había perdido ninguno
Sin embargo, la experiencia de Cerro Porteño fue progresivamente ganando solidez sobre el terreno de juego y, en el minuto 26, un centro al área terminó en penalti, después de que el defensor Luis Martínez agarrase al argentino Mauro Boselli.
Un minuto después, Aquino tomó mucha carrera, lanzó el penalti ajustado al palo derecho del arquero Carlos Olses que, engañado, se lanzó a su lado izquierdo, y anotó el único gol del partido.
Al retorno de los vestuarios, La Guaira se lanzó en busca del gol que les permitiera, al menos, empatar el partido y continuar con su fuerza en la lucha por pasar a la siguiente fase.
Por momentos, el Cerro Porteño pareció encerrado en la defensa y, atrincherado, trató de buscar otro gol gracias a veloces contragolpes.
Sin embargo, La Guaira no fue capaz de encontrar huecos entre las líneas paraguayas y no dispuso de buenas ocasiones de gol, el gran déficit de un equipo que solo ha anotado un tanto en cuatro partidos disputados en la Libertadores.
Algo similar le pasó al Ciclón, que a pesar de buscar el contraataque no fue capaz de llegar con peligro a la portería rival, aunque disfrutó de una buena oportunidad en el minuto 82, gracias a un disparo lejano de Santiago Arzamendia que se estrelló en el poste.
Tras la victoria paraguaya en el estadio Olímpico de Caracas, sin público en las gradas por la pandemia, el Cerro Porteño quedó con siete puntos, los mismos que Atlético Mineiro que tiene un partido menos.
Por su parte, La Guaira es tercero con tres puntos, dos más que América de Cali que también ha disputado un juego menos.
