El Liverpool no tira la toalla
para jugar la Champions League la próxima temporada. Aunque está difícil, el
cuadro de Klopp ha demostrado que no hay nada imposible para ellos y su
victoria ante el Southampton alimenta las posibilidades de pelear por Europa.
Aunque de momento no es ni
quinto, ya que el West Ham tiene un punto más, el ganar el partido pendiente
ante el Manchester United sería un salto importante, dejando a 3 puntos al
Leicester, cuarto clasificado.
Lo bueno es que, en el primer
tiempo, el Liverpool recuperó las sensaciones en cuanto a juego, no tanto a
definición. Los ‘red’ impusieron a su fútbol velocidad y verticalidad e
invadieron el área de los ‘saints’. Phillips, Mané y Salah ya habían dado aviso
antes de los 20 minutos, y justo después el larguero evitó el gol de Wijnaldum.
Era inevitable que llegara el
tanto. Por insistencia ni que fuera. Y así fue. Salah recortó y puso el balón
sobre Mané, que fue más rápido que Vestegaard para cazar el balón de cabeza
(31’).
No había pisado campo
contrario apenas el Southampton, que con el paso de los minutos, y en especial
en la segunda mitad, empezó a cambiar las tornas y atacar los espacios con la
velocidad de Tella y Diallo. El primero estuvo poco fino, el segundo mejor,
pero se encontró con Alisson en un par de disparos. Las tuvo, y más claras, Che
Adams, horrible en la definición.
Dejó serias dudas en ese
periodo el Liverpool, pero a diferencia de otros días logró sobrellevarlo,
hasta que Thiago Alcántara marcó el segundo, estrenándose como ‘red’ en un
disparo ajustado (91’).
