El seleccionador de la Sub-21
aplaude la clasificación a los cuartos de final de la Eurocopa
Luis de la Fuente,
seleccionador español Sub-21, ponderó el trabajo de su equipo en esta primera
fase del Europeo de la categoría que finalizan clasificados para cuartos de
final como primeros del Grupo B, invictos, imbatidos y con cinco goles a favor,
unos números “impresionantes” para el seleccionador.
“En el primer tiempo el equipo
estaba bastante nervioso, ansioso. El rival estaba muy equilibrado
defensivamente y no hemos estado fluidos hasta la segunda parte. Nos ha venido
bien el descanso, nos ha aportado tranquilidad, calma, y los cambios han sido
muy eficaces. Todo eso ha volcado la balanza a nuestro favor, que es lo que nos
merecíamos. Estamos en cuartos, los números son impresionantes y el trabajo de
este equipo es espectacular”, comentó en rueda de prensa.
Un Luis de la Fuente que
rehuyó de poner a España la vitola de favoritos, pero sí aseguró que creen que
pueden luchar por cosas importantes cuando se reanude el Europeo sub-21 el
próximo 31 de mayo.
“Hemos crecido mucho desde que
empezamos, incluso mirando solo cuando empezamos aquí. Es una pena que tengamos
este parón hasta mayo y que tengamos que volver a empezar de cero cuando
empiecen los cuartos. No sé si somos favoritos, pero sabemos que podemos pelear
por lo máximo; independientemente del valor que nos den fuera de nuestro
círculo. Trabajando así podemos hacer cosas importantes”, dijo al ser
preguntado por EFE.
El seleccionador valoró la
figura de Dani Gómez, autor de los dos goles de la victoria frente a República
Checa (2-0) cuando, hasta la fecha, solo había disfrutado de siete minutos en
el debut contra Eslovenia.
“Es un jugador especial.
Sabemos que cuando tiene oportunidades no suele desaprovecharlas. Trabaja muy
bien y hoy ha hecho lo que queríamos que hiciera y lo que quería él. En la
finalización es un especialista”, analizó.
Además, Luis de la Fuente
comentó la decisión de la UEFA de, finalmente, no retirarle la cartulina roja
vista frente a Italia a Óscar Mingueza: “Me parece injusto. Pero ya está.
Podremos contar con él en la siguiente fase si está todo bien y ya no merece la
pena hacer ninguna valoración al respecto. Es una pena por el chaval porque no
se merecía esa sanción”, aseguró.
